Schleicher Fahrzeugteile is investing in the future
Traditionally, the summer season at Schleicher Fahrzeugteile is over when our new trainees start their vocational training programme, and we are now well on course into the fourth quarter of 2020, this exceptional business year. In line with the Ifo Business Climate Index, the mood here is optimistic and investment-friendly – accompanied, naturally, by due prudence with respect to the protection of the health of our staff and business partners.
So we’re making the most of the easing off in order intake resulting from the coronavirus pandemic and continuing with the optimisation of in-house production structures and factors:
August 2020 saw the purchase of a state-of-the-art INDEX G220 Turn-mill Center which will be implemented as from 2021 in the complete processing of cam shafts and the machining of half-finished cam shafts after tempering. The mountings and fittings provided here permit fast tool change, greater manufacturing flexibility and maximum quality assurance for our customers.
At the same time, we are forging ahead with our digitalisation projects and investing in the development of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) and MES (Manufacturing Execution System) to achieve increasing interlinkage of the data flow in our company and enable control of our entire production process in real time.
At our Penzberg plant, the largest production facility is being modernised to include an intelligent ventilation system providing a fume and heat extractor, enabling an improved uniform workshop temperature and a fresh air supply for our staff and the production facility. And our new environmentally friendly open-air cooling compressor combination doubles the capacity of technical cooling – which leads to an extension of our hardening capacity and even greater uniformity in grinding conditions.
We have not let the coronavirus crisis stop us – and the above activities ensure that we will still remain a reliable and efficient partner for our customers and staff in the coming year.
